Things To Know

1 Seat Per License

  • Each license lasts for 1 year, but can be renewed for a small maintenance+support fee
  • Each license can be registered to only 1 device at a time
  • Log in online to register a device with a vacant license
  • Unregister a device within the app to log off and vacate the license

Useable Offline

  • After an online login with a license key, offline login is available
  • Offline login remains available for 2 weeks after last online login
  • Offline login will remind user of the time of the next required online login

Share Access with Unlicensed Users

  • After an online login, a user can request the Daily Password for that calendar day in the License menu
  • An unlicensed user working with a licensed user can install CAN-Parse for free and use the Daily Password to gain temporary access to the full app (including the Tracing and Transmitting features)
  • Each license comes with 10 Daily Password requests
  • The license's Daily Password requests are reset with each renewal.

  • CAN-Parse for Android is currently in closed beta-testing (reach out at support@bowisengineering.com if you would like to participate).
  • CAN-Parse for iOS is expected to release in the summer of 2024
  • CAN-Parse for Windows is expected to release in 2025

Quick Installation Instructions

Download and Install

Follow the steps below to install CAN-Parse to an Android phone. (~3 min.) 

  1. Download the .zip file to an Android phone
  2. Open the Files app or equivalent, go to the Downloads folder, and find the file called CAN-Parse.zip
  3. Click on the file to unzip it
  4. Security Check: Go to a SHA256 calculator, drag and drop the unzipped APK file, and confirm that the output matches the result on the Download page. This confirms that the file is up-to-date and has not been tampered with.
  5. Open the unzipped folder, click on the CAN-Parse.apk file, and open with "Package Installer"
  6. If not already granted, grant the "Install Unknown Apps" permission for the Files app to install apps from places other than the Play Store. This permission can be found by searching "Install Unknown Apps" in the Settings app. This permission can be revoked immediately after installing CAN-Parse
  7. Click Install, and complete the App Scan, to confirm the app doesn't request improper permissions. Click Install when complete
  8. Open CAN-Parse
  9. Enter the License Key (received by email after purchasing a license) and Login Online
  10. CAN-Parse is now fully operational
